We meet every Monday evening from 7:30-9:00 at the Izaak Walton
chapter house on highway 150 north of Vinton. Scheduled no-meeting
dates are announced in advance at Troop meetings.
As a rule, meetings are canceled if the Vinton-Shellsburg school district cancels classes or dismisses classes early because of weather. If actual conditions do not warrent a cancelation, Scouts will be called. Calls will be made as early as possible but the decision is not typically made until early evening (after the Scoutmaster gets home from work). If in doubt, Scouts should phone their patrol leader to verify the status.
In any event, Scouts and parents must always use their own best judgement as to whether it is safe for them to make the trip.

Since 1931, Troop 47 has helped teenage boys learn values and leadership skills by providing a variety of fun and challenging outdoor adventures. The Troop has monthly campouts year-round plus a week-long summer camp and a week-long "high adventure" trip each summer. Recent high adventure trips have been to locations such as the Colorado Rocky Mts and the Boundary Waters Canoe Access Wilderness.
